A strong student profile isn’t built overnight.
It develops through experiences.
For a student interested in entrepreneurship, for example, participating in an entrepreneurship competition can provide an opportunity to:
- Identify a problem
- Develop an idea
- Conduct research
- Create a solution
- Present it
- Receive feedback
- Improve it
An internship can provide another dimension — exposure to how an industry actually works.
A project can demonstrate curiosity and initiative.
A volunteering experience can help students understand community needs.
The key is connection.
Students shouldn’t participate in activities simply because they “look good”.
Instead, ask:
- Why am I doing this?
- What am I learning?
- What skills am I developing?
- What does this experience tell me about myself?
- Can I build on it further?
Over time, these experiences can create a meaningful narrative around a student’s interests.
YSP encourages students to explore opportunities across areas such as entrepreneurship, STEM, AI, sustainability, public speaking, financial literacy and community engagement.
The objective is not to create a collection of certificates.
It is to create meaningful experiences that help students grow.
